Oh Debian why can I not quit you so. No matter how much distro hopping I do I always end up back on Debian, I think
its time to stop the hopping and except the fact this is my forever home. Debian on my laptop just works perfectly
and the battery life is above and beyond what I get on other distros, well Openmandriva comes close to battery life
but that’s for another day.

Debian is a rock solid distro with pretty much all you need out of the box. They have a massive collection in the
repo to get you going without having to turn to Flatpak. Don’t get me wrong Flatpak is not all that bad but its more
the fact when you are limited on ram Flatpak can easily kill the ram from my experience. If you are looking for rock
solid then look no further then Debian, its simple to install and has a feel to it that it will work when needed and
that to me is worth its weight in gold all day.

On my Linux journey I have tried so many distros its hard to keep up with them all and they all kinda blur into one
at some point. No matter what I do I always end up back here and loving it all over again like its the first time I
have used it. Debian was one I tried and failed to install in the 2000s I think it was to install, back then it was
a lot harder to install compared to now, I ended up on Ubuntu which pushed me back to windows at the time for quite
awhile. Windows 11 seems such a mess of a OS it has put me off Microsoft for a long time.

Ubuntu 26 just arrived the other day and I tried it for around an hour before losing my mind at just how slow it is,
whoever is in charge over there needs to sit back and take notes, we want something fast and abled not slow and
clunky. After what felt like the longest hour of my life trying to get even basic stuff to work I was missing Debian
in the back of my mind, so out comes the trusty usb stick and im back on Debian and this time I’m sticking to it,
well I said that last time but this time honest I mean it I swear

joking aside its nice to be back to my old faithful, I can update my software as and when I want to without the fear
something is going to break. Debian is truly one distro I can hand on heart say starts every time and runs no
different each time and that to me is a win win. For way to long have I always looked at other distros or how to
customise my android phone and I can honestly say I’m to old for this crap now. Give me stable and solid on all my
devices from now on. The days of making things look pretty just because I can are over, give me plain and boring
from now on. I know full well I can never stick to plain but I will make dam sure I try to.

As I’m writing this I can feel the pull to try a new distro and I blame YouTube for that, all jokes aside I really
do want to find that perfect place to call home with all my devices, give me the freedom to be my own boss and
decide what I want to share and to whom. Nostr has given me this freedom to be who I want to be and I have learnt a
whole lot from there and found a lot of others looking like me for that forever home. For now I can say that between
Debian and GrapheneOS I have found a balance that suits me just perfectly. So for now I’m gonna enjoy this bit of
happiness and I hope in some way you find your home. #debian #linux
