I’m fucking trying to grow everything this year lmfao….I still have to start beans, peas, fennel, spinach, lettuce, beets, pumpkin, watermelon, cantaloupe, ramps, lotsof flowers, still need to order stuff too…Can I just plant ginger and turmeric I got from the store??? #askagardener
Direct sewing is your friend as things warm up. Most of what you listed with exception of the fennel which needsa longer seedling stage. Skip the repotting and transplanting whenever possible to save time and effort.Yes to ginger and turmeric—but don’t expect it to over-winter. Pre-sprout, then plant in shallow trenches andhill periodically as shoots emerge. Harvest as “baby ginger” before first frost.https://blossom.primal.net/0fa042179c0eb4e6fd658c1db782d8e13dc366da78f1572053ec5a7167c4dbd1.jpghttps://blossom.primal.net/d7493e7dd508733e2ad0a3498882dbfa7f670c7114c8cf9474df9ea1b1f4e1af.jpg
Direct sowing fennel in late summer for fall harvest has always worked best for me
With how short of a season I have I doubt that would work… I plan on doing it in pots as I don’t think I’ll havea garden bed available for em…
Your in Illinois correct? If so, that is not that short of a season and you have almost ideal conditions formost crops with your warm summer nights. Fennel can handle a frost, so a late July sowing will definitely beready by October.
Yeah… Really? I seem to have horrible luck with any late season crops… nothing seems to make it that late in theyear… my weed I grew last year was the latest thing I pulled and that was really pushing it imo…
🤷🏻♂️I lived in Chicago and Wisconsin compared to the PNW I consider them as hot summer areas. 😂
I mean yeah we get hot for sure… I could just be a shitty gardener lol
Nah bro! You got this. Gardening is just trying things out and not giving up.
Yeah for sure…This year is definitely an experiment year that’s for sure lol
I wish you all the luck.
Thank you!
Yeah dude, it’s an adventure. 🤝
