There is no incentive to reduce the cost to the customer—even if they produce 10x less waste than the average customer. replyFor example—you never see the opposite incentive: offer a lower fee for fewer items. Ottawa penalizing having a big family, garbage editionhttps://nostrcheck.me/media/00000000827ffaa94bfea288c3dfce4422c794fbb96625b6b31e9049f729d700/2343bd6352c025f94ee913c1eaca5c73f1b365e6c54e928a8a795452e32ede8a.webp
I understand your opinion. However, I like the idea of pay-for-what-you-use. I don’t live in Canada, butbasically i only use my trash service once every 2-3 months. I end up picking up trash from my neighbors’ cansevery trash day. So, in a very real way i am subsidizing their bad consumption habits. The managerial State doesnot reward efficiency. The trash company has a monopoly on trash services, and the State gets theiradministrative cut. There is no incentive to optimize for the “customer” because it would mean less valueextraction for the State/Corporate blob.
I thought we already paid for what we used so they are just making extra trash more expensive which will hurtbig families. They should have taken into account the number of people in the house…
