| I’d love to see an article or blog post about the strengths and weaknesses of the various custom ROMs; that
| would make it much easier to refer people to.
|
| It’s best compared to desktop Linux—you can’t always immediately provide new users with the most secure OS, but
| even a beginner using Linux offers significantly more security and better privacy than Windows 11.

e GrapheneOS is much more usable than other alternatives primarily due to having far broader app compatibility
and much better stability. It's a production quality OS not requriing major sacrifices compared to the
mainstream option. It isn't at all similar to moving from Windows to Linux where people need to move to a
different app ecosystem where a lot of the software they previously used isn't easily available. It's much
easier to move to GrapheneOS than that kind of move.

e GrapheneOS isn't read-only memory firmware and isn't a custom variant of a stock OS. It isn't inherently an
aftermarket OS either. The terms ROM and custom ROM are inaccurate and very misleading. Those lead to people
having major misconceptions about what it is and discourage adoption. A good starting point to increasing
adoption is to avoid terminology which consistently proves to result in people having misconceptions about it
and being scared off by the jargon being used.
