It isn't inherently an aftermarket OS either. The terms ROM and custom ROM are inaccurate and very misleading. Those lead to people having major misconceptions about what it is and discourage adoption. A good starting point to increasing adoption is to avoid terminology which consistently proves to result in people having misconceptions about it and being scared off by the jargon being used.
